What Should A Beginner Expect?

Starting karate for the first time can feel like a big step, but there is no need to worry about keeping up with experienced students.

At Bushido Karate, beginners are introduced to karate gradually and at their own pace.

Your first lessons will concentrate on simple fundamentals such as:

  • basic stances and movement
  • punches, blocks and kicks
  • balance and coordination
  • correct posture
  • simple self-defence principles
  • confidence and awareness
  • karate etiquette and discipline

You will not be expected to know any Japanese terminology or arrive already fit and flexible.

You do not need a karate suit for your first lesson. Comfortable clothing such as a T-shirt and tracksuit bottoms is perfectly suitable.

Our aim is for you to finish your first class thinking: “I enjoyed that — I want to come back.”

Karate For Children In Milton Keynes

Karate gives children the opportunity to learn new skills while being active and having fun.

Training can help children develop confidence, concentration, coordination, discipline and respect. They also learn how to listen, follow instructions and work towards achievable goals.

Progressing through the karate grading system gives children something positive to work towards and helps them recognise that improvement comes through regular practice rather than instant results.

Classes are structured but friendly, with beginners introduced carefully to each new technique.

Karate For Adults & Over-40s

You are never too old to begin karate. Many adults come to their first class having never practised a martial art before.

Karate provides an enjoyable way to improve: Fitness • Strength • Flexibility • Balance • Coordination • Confidence • Self-Defence

Training can be adapted to individual ability, so you do not have to be particularly fit or flexible before starting.

For many adults, karate also provides something that an ordinary gym session does not — a skill that can continue developing for many years.

Karate Classes for Families

One of the great things about Bushido Karate is that parents and children can become involved in karate together.

Instead of taking children to another activity and sitting on the sidelines, karate gives families the opportunity to share a common interest.
